The challenge
MSD (Merck Sharp & Dohme), a leading global pharmaceutical company, faced several challenges in digitising its training and services platform for healthcare professionals, specifically in its B2B environment:
- Integration with legacy systems: MSD needed a solution that would integrate seamlessly with its ERP and CRM, which were already in place and critical to managing its business.
- Scalability and Usability: The platform needed to be scalable, capable of handling a growing number of users (healthcare professionals and pharmacies), and also intuitive and easy to use, given that the target audience was very diverse, including pharmacies and doctors.
- Optimisation of the training process: It was necessary to develop a platform to efficiently manage and deliver continuous training to healthcare professionals, facilitating both access to content and monitoring of training activities.
- Management of a growing volume of partners: The platform had to be able to manage a large number of partner pharmacies, providing tools for their enrolment, management of exclusive content and monitoring.
The solution
hiberus was in charge of developing MSD's new B2B platform, focused on training for healthcare professionals, using Magento Enterprise. The solutions implemented were as follows::
- Development of the platform in Magento Enterprise:
- Using Magento Enterprise, a robust and flexible e-commerce was created that facilitated the sale and distribution of educational content and services to healthcare professionals.
- This Magento-based platform allowed for a customised design adapted to the needs of the business, enabling an easy and agile management process for both the end user and the system administrator.
- Integration with MSD's ERP and CRM:
- The platform was fully integrated with MSD's ERP and CRM, enabling unified management of user interactions and detailed tracking of relationships with pharmacies and other professionals.
- Magento's integration with these legacy systems streamlined data flow and improved operational efficiency by ensuring that all systems were synchronised and updated in real time.
- Easy Pharmacy Registration and Management:
- The portal facilitated pharmacy registration and management, allowing more than 15,000 pharmacies to be quickly associated with the system.
- Pharmacies were able to access exclusive content, complete training modules, and register activities on the platform with ease, all from a single point of access.
- Optimisation of training for healthcare professionals:
- A scalable solution was designed for the ongoing training of healthcare professionals, including access to courses, training modules, and related resources.
- The platform also allowed for tracking the progress and certifications obtained by healthcare professionals, improving the management of the training process.
- Scalability and Flexibility for the Future:
- Magento Enterprise provided the scalability necessary for MSD to continue to grow without the platform being affected by an increase in demand or number of users.
- Thanks to Magento's flexibility, the platform was able to adapt to future expansions, both in terms of functionality and the inclusion of new services and products for users.
With the new B2B platform on Magento Enterprise, MSD was able to optimise its training and pharmacy management processes, while integrating all its internal systems and improving the user experience. The platform has enabled the efficient management of more than 15,000 partner pharmacies, integrating training, commerce and management into a single digital ecosystem, aligned with the company's strategic objectives.
